Welding Characteristics
Stainless steel is a material that requires special treatment because it can contain up to 30% chromium. It gives the metal some characteristics that must be considered when performing welding work. In particular, oxygen in the air leads to the burning of chromium, which weakens the corrosion resistance of the metal in the welded joints. Therefore, stainless steel welding is usually performed in a shielding gas environment. The choice of required equipment depends on the grade and thickness of the metal. The welding technology used for each alloy is different to achieve quality results. Before starting the work, the joints are degreased and cleaned.
